Scholarships for Students of Color

25 Scholarship Gateways from Black Excel - 25 scholarships for students of color in various majors. Academy for Educational Development Fellowships - fellowship program for graduate studies in public and/or international affairs. Accounting Scholarships - scholarships for students of color pursuing accounting. Actuarial Scholarships for Minority Students - to provide scholarships at the undergraduate or graduate level for certain minority students who are interested in pursuing actuarial careers. Alpha Kappa Alpha Scholarship - scholarships provided by Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc. American Geological Institute (AGI) Minority Geoscience Scholarships - provide financial awards ranging from $250 to $1,000 to underrepresented ethnic-minority students in the geosciences. American Institute of Certified Public Accountants(AICPA) - minority student who has applied to or has been accepted into an accounting doctoral program. American Psychological Association (APA) Scholarships and Fellowships American Society for Microbiology Undergraduate Fellowships American Sociological Association Graduate funding - funding opportunities to graduate students of sociology and sociologists with a doctorate degree. Bell Labs Fellowships for Underrepresented Minorities - several programs that are designed to encourage students to pursue careers in science and engineering. Black Alliance for Educational Options Scholarships - preschool - 12th grade students scholarships to attend private schools. Boeing Scholarships (some HBCU connects) - scholarships are awarded to students who attend historically Black colleges and universities, sons or daughters of Boeing employees and colleges and universities that work closely with technology.  Development Fund for Black Students in Science and Technology - is an endowment fund which provides scholarships to African-American undergraduate students who enroll in scientific or technical fields of study at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) GE and LuLac Scholarship Funds - LuLac scholarships are given to Hispanic students meeting certain guidelines; GE Funds/GM Funds are directed specifically to minority students with career interests in business or engineering. Graduate Fellowships For Minorities Nationwide - specifically for students competing graduate work. HACE Hispanic Alliance for Career Enhancement - scholarships for undergraduate students. Hispanic Scholarship Fund - different scholarship programs available; all applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents of Hispanic heritage.  Click here for community college transfer scholarship program. INROADS Internships - places talented minority youth in business and industry. Jacki Tuckfield Memorial Graduate Business Scholarship - for African American students in South Florida. Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarships - provides four year scholarships of up to $6,000 annually to minority high school students. The Lagrant Foundation Scholarships - provides scholarships for graduating high school students of color studying public relations, marketing or advertising. La Unidad Latina Foundation - scholarships and grants to worthy and needy Latino students for the pursuit of higher education. Minority Health Program - supports training opportunities to help individuals prepare for a career in health services research. National Action Council of Minorities in Engineering - minority students in engineering attending specific universities. National Association of Black Engineers - undergraduate, graduate, competitions; amount varies. National Association of Black Journalists - fellowships and internships for African American journalists and students. National Association of Hispanic Journalists - several scholarships through our Rubén Salazar Scholarship program provide opportunities to encourage and inspire Hispanic students to pursue careers in the field of print, photo, broadcast or online journalism. National Association of Hispanic Nurses Scholarships - awarded to outstanding Hispanic nursing students enrolled in a nursing program. National Urban League Scholarship Program - scholarships for African American high school students demonstrating outstanding academic and personal achievement, community service, and leadership; it is not necessary to be affiliated with the Urban League. Reach for the Gold Book Scholarship - female college-bound minority high school seniors will be awarded a book scholarship of $500 and is applied to the high costs of college textbooks in the first year of college. Ron Brown Scholar Program - awards scholarships to academically talented, highly motivated African-American high school seniors. Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund - support to the nation's 45 Historically Black Public Colleges and Universities-and by offering merit-based scholarships to qualified students.  Apply directly to the participating institution, not the scholarship fund. United Negro College Fund - UNCF awards scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students attending UNCF member schools and other schools across the country. UNCF and Merck Science Initiative - Science Research Scholarship Awards, Dissertation Fellowships, and Post Science Research Fellowships. University of Chicago - Office of Minority Student Affairs. Various Scholarships - list prepared by the Hispanic Scholarship Fund; scholarships for various majors and minority groups. Washington Metropolitan Scholars (Project Excellence) - college scholarship funds for African American students in the Washington metropolitan area. William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship - in conjunction with a summer internship program open to members of minority groups based on need and academic excellence; open to both graduate and undergraduate students. Xerox - internship and scholarship program for minority students studying areas like chemistry, engineering, physics, and "tech" areas. The award amount is up to $4,000 for undergraduates and more for graduate students.

General Scholarships

Alexander Graham Bell - college scholarships are awarded to qualified students with moderate to profound hearing loss. Ambassadorial Scholarships - world's largest privately funded international scholarships program. Astronaut Scholarship Foundation - applicants must be third year engineering or physical science college students. Athletic Scholarships - public and private financial aid opportunities in Arkansas Ayn Rand Essay Scholarships - essay contests for 9th grade through college.  Brand Essay Competition - Bonner Scholar Program - must apply directly to participating school. Community service is pivotal, as well as need. Burger King Scholars/McLamore Foundation - Burger King Scholars awards are aimed at assisting students who work part-time out of financial need. Students DO NOT have to be employed at a BURGER KING®. Scholarships are also available for employees. Collegiate Inventors Competition - Collegiate Inventors Competition is a national competition that recognizes and rewards innovations, discoveries and research by college and university students and their faculty advisors. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) - application determines eligibility for Pell grants, Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, Subsidized loans.  FastWeb - scholarship search service has a data base of 600,000 scholarships. Gates Millennium Scholars - African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American; are a citizen/legal permanent resident or national of the United States; have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale; will be entering a U.S. accredited college or university as full time, degree-seeking freshman in the fall Gateway to 10 Free Scholarship Searches - Grandmothers for Peace International - high school senior or first year in college; essay contest awarding scholarships $250-500. Guaranteed Scholarships - various scholarships listed by state and schools nationwide. Harry Truman Scholarships - college juniors preparing for leadership in public service. HOPE Scholarships and Lifetime Learning Tax Credits - tax credit for college students. IES Financial Aid - scholarships available for study abroad experiences. International Students Scholarships & Aid - financial aid, college scholarship and grant information for international students wishing to study abroad. Kodak 2004 EASTMAN Scholarship Program - undergraduate and graduate students studying film, film production, and cinematography; award $5,000. MasterCard Scholarship Program - scholarships for children of MasterCard employees. McDonald’s Corporation - sponsors a National Employee Scholarship Program for qualifying restaurant employees and National Merit Scholarships for children of employees and others within the McDonald’s system. Michigan Education Association - must be a graduate of a Michigan public school and attending a Michigan public community/junior college, four-year degree-granting institution, or vocational training institution that grants a degree, certification or license.  Some private schools are also listed. Michigan Society of Professional Engineers Scholarships - various scholarships available for college students and high school students interested in engineering. Microsoft Scholarships - for students pursuing computer science and related technical disciplines; four scholarships available: a General Scholarship, Women's Scholarship, Underrepresented Minority Scholarship, and Scholarships for Students with Disabilities Military.com search engine - scholarships for the military community including active member, ROTC/JROTC, veterans, spouses, dependents and grandchildren. National Federation of the Blind - grants thirty scholarships annually to legally blind persons in higher education from college freshmen to doctoral candidates. National FFA Collegiate Scholarship Program - Scholarships are given for a wide variety of experiences, career goals and higher education plans. Different awards may be used at colleges, universities and postsecondary agricultural programs. NCAA Sports Scholarships and Internships - internships and scholarships. Orphan Foundation - You must have been in foster care or a ward of the court for at least one year (12 months) at the time of your 18th birthday. Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford - Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarships - several types of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students to study abroad. ROTC Military Scholarships (Navy, Army, Marines, Airforce) - train qualified young men and women to become officers in those services upon graduation from college. Siemens Foundation - science competition, AP awards, scholarships, and grants for exceptional achievement in science, math and technology. SIT Study Abroad - scholarships for SIT study abroad experience.  Students with Disabilities - list of organizations and scholarships available for students diagnosed with various disabilities including learning disabilities, visual impairments, hearing loss, physical disabilities, and others. Target Scholarship - school fundraising, all around scholarships, and arts educational grants. US Marine Corp Scholarship Foundation - sons and daughters of United States Marines and children of former Marines, with particular attention being given to children whose parent was killed or wounded in action. High School Students only

AAA Travel Challenge - scholarship funds from the Hogan Family Foundation. Ninth through 12th grade public, private and home-schooled students. Americorps - scholarships available for outstanding service by high school students Anne Ford Scholarship - students of high merit with an identified learning disability (LD). Art, Film, Writing Scholarships/Competitions List - various art, photo, film and video, painting or sculpting, and other scholarships and competitions.  Coca Cola Scholarships - scholarship awards and enrichment programs. David and Dovetta Scholarship Fund - high school seniors; selected for their community service or religious activities, academic excellence and financial need. Discover Financial Services Scholarship - Tribute Award Scholarship Program; scholarships are available to high school juniors from public or private high school in the United States. DuPont Challenge Science Essay Competition - grade between 7 and 12, inclusive, in a public or non-public school in the United States and its territories and Canada. Easley National Scholarship Program - Elks National Foundation - Most Valuable Student Competition; any high school senior who is a citizen of the United States is eligible to apply. Holocaust Remembrance Scholarships - national essay contest for high school students. Intel Science Talent Search - nationwide competition pre-college science contest. John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Essay Contest - high school students in grades nine through twelve attending public, private, parochial, or home school. Maryland Artists Scholarships - Senior high school students from all Maryland public and private schools. National Academy of American Scholars - high school seniors only National High School Essay Contest - All students in grades nine through 12 National Peace Essay Contest - essay contest open to all students in grades 9–12. Presidential Freedom Scholarship Program - designed to highlight and promote service and citizenship by high school juniors and seniors and to recognize students for their leadership in those areas. Shakespeare Fellowship Essay Competition - Grades 9-10 and the other for grades 11-12.  The contest is open to students around the world writing in English. Siemens-Westinghouse Competition - open to high school seniors; must submit an original science and math research project. Young Epidemiology Scholars Competition - student competition open to high school juniors and seniors who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States.

Scholarships by Major

Alliance for Health - nursing scholarships, tuition reimbursement, or loans available to students in West Michigan. American Chemical Society (ACS) Minority Scholars Programs - African American, Hispanic/Latino and American Indian students seeking to pursue undergraduate college degrees in chemical sciences and chemical technology. American Institute of Certified Public Accountants - a list of organizations offering scholarships to encourage the pursuit of an accounting education. American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation - several scholarships for students enrolled in an accredited undergraduate academic program leading to a degree in hospitality management; to download a brochure click here. AT & T Undergraduate Research Program - for women, minorities studying specific majors; summer internship opportunity. Home Builders Association of Greater Grand Rapids - scholarships to high school seniors in the Grand Rapids area pursuing careers in building-related fields. Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM) - scholarships for high school students and college students pursuing teacher education program in mathematics. National Institutes of Health (NIH) Undergraduate Scholarship Program (UGSP) - offers competitive scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral, and social science health-related research. National Housing Endowment - four scholarship programs for students at the graduate and undergraduate level studying residential construction and related fields. National Tourism Foundation - scholarships for students pursuing careers in travel and tourism fields. NFAA Art Awards Program - scholarships for high school seniors in pursuing dance, film and video, music, theater, visual arts, voice and writing.  Nursing Scholarship - U.S. citizen or national who is enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a professional registered nurse program as a full-time or part-time student in an accredited school of nursing. Professional programs include: master's, baccalaureate, associate degree or diploma schools of nursing. NOTE: Licensed practical nurse (LPN) programs are not eligible. Paralegal Studies - scholarships for students pursuing paralegal studies. Princess Grace Awards - a national program dedicated to identifying and assisting emerging young artists in theater, dance and film. Saul T. Wilson Scholarships (Veterinary) - current college students only; completed at least 2 years of a 4-year preveterinary medicine or other biomedical science curriculum. Graduate student applicants must have completed not more than 1 year of study in veterinary medicine. Tylenol Scholarship - students who demonstrate leadership in community activities and school activities and who intend to major in areas that will lead to health related fields.

Scholarships for Women

American Association of University Women - The scholarships are for the advancement, education, research and the self-development of women. Several types of scholarships are available. Association for Women in Science - Awards are available for women undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a degree in scientific studies. Business and Professional Women USA - Provides scholarships and loans for women, helping them to advance their careers. Business and Professional Women's Foundation - award financial assistance to disadvantaged women who want to further their education. Computer Research Association - For undergraduate women who show outstanding potential in the computer research area. Applicants must be studying computer science, computer engineering or related field. Educational Foundation for Women in Accounting - Several scholarships are available for undergraduate and graduate women students pursuing a degree in accounting. Society of Women Engineers - SWE administers over 70 individual scholarship awards annually, varying in amount from $1000 to over $5,000 per year. Talbots Women' s Scholarship Fund - scholarship awards are based primarily on financial need and previous achievements for women who earned their high school diploma or GED at least 10 years ago.

Aquinas College - various scholarships available using a common application. Bell Com Credit Union - members and children of members are eligible to apply. Calvin College - various scholarships available for first year students and transfer students. Community Foundation Scholarship Program - several scholarships available to the community of Muskegon County. D & W Scholarships - scholarships available for current associates. Ferris State University - federal aid, state financial aid, and institutional aid. GRCC Scholarships - various scholarships categorized by major at Grand Rapids Community College; download Foundation Scholarship Booklet and scholarship websites. Grand Rapids Community Foundation - numerous scholarships to Kent County residents. Some select scholarships are also available for Ottawa County residents. Grand Valley State University - various scholarships for freshman or transfer students planning to attend GVSU. Grand Rapids Urban League - (616) 245-2207 offers scholarships to high school students. Home Builders Association of Greater Grand Rapids - scholarships to high school seniors in the Grand Rapids area pursuing careers in building-related fields. Lake Michigan Credit Union - (click on 'additional resources') Hutt Scholarship for Lake Michigan Credit Union members and dependents. Mary Free Bed Hospital - Minority Scholarship Program (Nursing) Steelcase Foundation - employee scholarship program that gives scholarships to children of Steelcase employees (no scholarships available outside of this program).
