Psalms 62:2 KJV  O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.

Prayer is a beautiful and awe-inspiring gift to all mankind.  There is no greater privilege than to have an audience with the One who knew you before you existed, who sustains you here on earth and who has planned an eternity with you to express His love to you.  There is not an issue that human beings face that cannot be effectively addressed by prayer because with God, all things are possible.   The Bible is full of men and women who discovered that the Almighty God hears as well as responds when people come to Him in prayer.  So essential to Christian worship is prayer that Jesus said:

Matt.21:13 KJV   …My house shall be called the house of prayer;

This should not be interpreted as though prayer is the only welcomed form of worship but that personal engagement with God was to be the centerpiece of the worship activities of the temple, hence the center of our lives.

Certainly Jesus is not only the Champion of the subject of prayer in His teachings, but also the model of the practice of prayer in His life and ministry.  Jesus prayed at His baptism, the heavens opened, Holy Spirit descended upon Him (Luke 3:21-22).  He prayed all night before choosing the 12 disciples (Luke 6:12-13).  As the disciples followed Him they found that His habit was to rise very early in the morning to pray (Mark 1:35).  Even as His popularity exploded (He blew up), He would withdraw to talk to the Father (Luke 5:15-16).  Before His betrayal and crucifixion He spent hours watching and praying (Mat.26:36-57).  Even in the midst of His suffering in agony on the cross He prayed (Luke 23:34).   To top it all off, the scripture says that now, in heaven, Jesus ever lives to make intercession for us (Heb.&:23-28).

When we give ourselves on a regular basis to watching, praying, waiting on God, we joyfully trust Him on all occasions and in every circumstance for wisdom, protection, provision, health, healing and anointing.  We patiently trust His ways and anticipate His answers in all bountifulness, faithfulness, and goodness.  If God be for us what could there ever be to fear!  Constantly expressing our trust in Him through prayer, our hearts are fixed on Him in faith and He has promised perfect peace to all those who exhibit such trust!  Lord may we continue to pray and may our lives be overflowing in peace!
