Psalms 63:1-3 KJV 1 A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; 2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. 3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

Time is the most important possession of each individual. There is only a limited amount in each day and with each passing day conscientious reflection commands better use of time. How many people have looked back and wished they had used their time better? In light of the fact that time is so precious, what each person does with their time will define what they believe is important in life and what they do first shows what they believe to have the greatest significance. It’s quite interesting that also in turn, that in which the most time is spent, in return gains even more importance. David realized that there was a void in life that only God could fill. God never forces Himself upon anyone but David’s increased desire was always met with God’s presence. More desire (request), greater presence (answer). As glorious and magnificent as God is and ever will be, they seemed to feed off of each other’s desire for the other. The more of God that David desired, the more of Himself God would reveal.

David talked to God first. He put God first he sought God first. Therefore God was most significant in his life. God was preeminent, supreme in importance. So vital was this time with God that David compared it to the search for water to satisfy the most dire of thirsts. Note David’s desire is not to be delivered from his affliction or to have his needs met but to see God in all His glory and to experience His lovingkindness. David from the depths of his heart while he was homeless, hiding in the wilderness of Judah prayed that he would be more aware of God’s beauty, glory, and love. God was his priority. When you put God first, your prayer shifts from impressing your needs upon God to being impressed with all God is, all He can do and what a God this Grand would like for you to do.
