The BIG Reveal

Romans 8:18-23 KJV [18] For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. [19] For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. [20] For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, [21] Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. [22] For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. [23] And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

This passage takes us back to the fall of man, for when Adam sinned it affected not just mankind but the whole creation. In Genesis 3:17, God told Adam, “Cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shaltthou eat of it all the days of thy life.”  The scripture is clear that both the vegetable and the animal kingdom suffered from the curse; the curse was stamped on the whole creation, bringing with it disease, disaster and death. But praise God, He also offered a cursed creation HOPE, for we read that “the creature (creation) itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption!” Corruption here represents impurity, deformity, and infirmity.  The hope of creation is this whole and completed deliverance.  This passage of scripture provides a glimpse into the mind of God with regard to how intimately the entire creation is connected to mankind.

This brings us to the verse 23, for creation’s deliverance will occur at “the revealing of the sons of God.”  This “big reveal” appears to be connected to another glorious event outlined in scripture:

Revelation 1:7-8 KJV [7] Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. [8] I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Matthew 24:30 KJV [30] And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Many of you may very well be thinking, “But wait a minute doesn’t Romans 8:19 refer to ‘the revealing of the sons of God,’ NOT the Revelation of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.”  Absolutely, that is true, but it is also true that “the revealing of the sons of God” AND “the revealing of Jesus Christ” HAPPEN AT THE SAME TIME!

Colossians 3:4 KJV [4] When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

1 John 3:2 KJV [2] Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

It should be noted as believers we are already “the sons of God,” but when the world sees us in that day we will be fully manifested in glorified bodies and they will know we truly are the SONS OF GOD.
