Restoration

Psalm 115:16 TPT [16] The heavens belong to our God; they are his alone, but he has given us the earth and put us in charge.

In the previous devotion we looked at God’s perfect will in heaven; where there is neither sickness, nor death, nor pain. We said that sickness was never a part of God’s original plan, purpose or will. Therefore when God has restored all things to His original design sickness will be gone once and for all. If it was never a part of God’s plan, where exactly did sickness come from?

Romans 5:12 TPT [12] When Adam sinned, the entire world was affected. Sin entered human experience, and death was the result. And so death followed this sin, casting its shadow over all humanity, because all have sinned.

The entire world was affected by sin and death was the result. The entrance of sin, through Adam and Eve, brought with it thorns, thistles, storms, aging, and vicious death. This is all we have ever known. Most people think it’s normal, but “survival of the fittest is not normal to God.

Isaiah 11:6-9 TPT [6] Then the wolf will be subdued and live with the gentle lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the gentle lamb. The young calf and the ferocious lion will be together, and as a shepherd drives his flock, a small child will guide them along! [7] The cow and the bear will graze alongside each other; cubs and calves will lie down together. The lion, like the ox, will eat straw. [8] The nursing child will play safely near the rattlesnake's den, and the toddler will stretch out his hand and shine light over the serpent. [9] On all my holy mountain of Zion, nothing evil or harmful will be found. For the earth will be filled with the intimate knowledge of the Lord Yahweh just as water swells the sea!

When everything is restored the prophet Isaiah clearly outlines how, unlike today, all living creatures, humans and animals alike, will safely and peacefully cohabitate. All of the violence of animals tearing each other apart was never meant to be. It is not God’s will and neither is men killing each other. How did we get here? Sin. When you look at what sin has done to us, what it took to get sin off of us, the price that had to be paid, you recognize sin is serious business. Did you know that it pays to sin? No one wants the wages but sin pays.

Romans 6:23 KJV [23] For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The payment of sin is death and sickness is a part of death. In other words, sickness unchecked, when it runs it’s course results in death. John Alexander Dowie said “Sickness is the foul offspring of its father Satan and its mother sin.” For some to say sickness is the will of God is akin to saying sin is the will of God, because sickness is the product of sin. Now since disease entered the world by sin, if there is a cure for sin then there is no reason that there wouldn’t be a cure for disease also. You have just as much right to receive healing as you have to receive forgiveness; it is based on the same salvation work of Jesus Christ.

James 5:14-15 TPT [14] Are there any sick among you? Then ask the elders of the church to come and pray over the sick and anoint them with oil in the name of our Lord. [15] And the prayer of faith will heal the sick and the Lord will raise them up, and if they have committed sins they will be forgiven.

James, the Lord’s brother, wrote they would be forgiven and healed in the same prayer! Glory to God there is a cure for sin and it is the cross of Jesus Christ; that same cross is also the cure for sickness, disease, poverty, and all oppression of the devil!
